Teaching skills are vital for resident success, and residents at the University of Minnesota are often passionate about teaching. The Clinician-Educator Pathway further develops the teaching skills of our residents and prepares residents for careers in medical education.

The Global Medicine Pathway is one of several core tracks offered to medicine and medicine-pediatrics residents. More than 80 medicine and medicine-pediatrics residents have completed international rotations through our partner sites since 2000.

Hospital Medicine Pathway

The Hospital Medicine Pathway is an innovative, joint venture of the HealthPartners Medical Group Division of Hospital Medicine and the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. The program fosters the growth and development of those residents wishing to pursue careers as practitioners, educators, researchers, and leaders in hospital medicine.

Primary Care Pathway

Primary Care Pathway

The University of Minnesota recognizes the unique role of primary care and the importance of properly preparing residents with an interest in this particular field. For those residents, we offer a specific track in Primary Care Internal Medicine.

MN Program in Advocacy and Community Engagement

MN Program in Advocacy and Community Engagement

During the 2017/2018 year, the MedPeds residency launched its SAFE (Service, Advocacy, Fellowship, and Engagement initiative, which has since been renamed the MN Program in Advocacy and Community Engagement (MAP). This pathway is available to all Internal Medicine residents. The goal of this pathway is to reinforce that advocacy and community engagement are key components of being a physician. To supplement individual acts of community service, we are creating an advocacy rotation in addition to the pathway option.
