Why did you decide to come to the U of MN Residency Program? The diverse patient population that the three-hospital system offers, the different pathways, and the bedside ultrasound curriculum were some of the aspects of the program that I found most appealing. The residents and the faculty at the hospital had warm and caring personalities, and this mentality extended to the community. My husband was born and raised in Minnesota and all of his family is here. I love the outdoors and Minnesota does not fall short in providing many opportunities to enjoy them.

What do you enjoy most about the program? I like the team dynamic. The residents and the rest of the interns are cool and down to earth, people I can easily hang out with. The inpatient months during intern year and the complex patients you encounter make you a better intern. I also like the night float system because I like working nights more than days.

Why did you decide to come to the U of M Residency Program?
There are a number of reasons I decided on U of M, including the focus on education of residents, the three hospital system, and the amazing support system provided by program leadership, faculty, and chief residents. I remember at the interview dinner and throughout the interview day I really appreciated how close the residents were to one another and to faculty. It was so obvious how much everyone genuinely liked one another and enjoyed working together, and I realized that it was a community that I wanted to be a part of.

What do you enjoy most about the program?
I really enjoy the camaraderie between residents, students, and staff. The program does an amazing job creating an environment that encourages all students and residents to discuss and share ideas, which ultimately results in excellent patient care. No other residency program offered such a unique and meaningful experience.

Medicine Interests and plans after residency:
Joined the Hospital Medicine pathway. After residency, I'd like to stay in the Twin Cities area or head back to the West coast to pursue a hospitalist career at a community hospital affiliated with a residency program.

Why did you decide to come to the U of M Residency Program?
The residents I met at the pre-interview dinner and throughout the interview day were hands down the happiest, most enjoyable group of people I met on the trail. The opportunity to learn in three very different hospital systems was also very appealing (and this is something I appreciate more and more as I progress in my training).

What do you enjoy most about the program?
Working with a great group of interns/residents with supportive faculty always around and willing to help.
