Division of General Internal Medicine
The Division of General Internal Medicine has developed an outstanding cohort of clinicians, teachers, and young educational leaders. The division is united in the mission of patient care and has enthusiastically accepted and embraced teaching and educational leadership roles. The majority of faculty members are clinical scholars whose academic activities involve scholarship related to clinical and educational activities.
Congratulations to Michael Hyoung-son Kim, MD, current faculty member in Medicine’s Division of General Internal Medicine and Pediatrics’ Division of Hospital Medicine, will be the first person to serve as assistant dean for student affairs.
The Office of Undergraduate Medical Education has developed a new role to support Twin Cities and Duluth year 3-4 medical students. The assistant dean for student affairs will support medical student learning, professional development, and career planning. This role will centralize many of the duties that help students meet their goals.
Congratulations to Kathleen Watson, MD, Associate Professor, Department of Medicine, Medical School on her induction to the AHC Academy for Excellence in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, which recognizes AHC faculty who have demonstrated excellence in the educational mission of the Academic Health Center. Faculty members inducted into the Academy have demonstrated exceptional scholarly contributions to advance learning in their schools and across academic programs in the University of Minnesota.
Wexler Professor of Medicine Anne Joseph, MD, MPH has been asked to weigh in on public policy debates about e-cigarette usage. She has been advocating for more trials to learn more about electronic nicotine delivery systems.
Congratulations to William Robiner, PhD, Professor, Department of Medicine, Medical School, for receiving the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology 2012 Alfred M. Wellner Distinguished Career Award. This award is the highest honor bestowed upon a psychologist to honor numerous and significant contributions to psychology during a distinguished career.
