Dr. Jacob was head of the Division of Hematology from 1968 to 1998 when it merged with the Division of Medical Oncology. At that time, he became Professor Emeritus. Following graduation from Reed College in 1954, Dr. Jacob graduated from Harvard Medical School cum laude in 1958. He was a founding chief medical editor of HemOnc Today.
Dr. Jacob continues in active clinical practice and in teaching students, residents and fellows.


Research Summary/Interests

Dr. Jacob’s research interests are in hemolytic anemias, inflammatory mechanisms of vascular damage including atherosclerosis and acute respiratory disease, and autoimmune disorders.
