The Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension’s core missions are to provide comprehensive medical care for patients with kidney disease or hypertension, to perform cutting edge research into the causes and treatment of kidney disease, and to educate physicians in the care of patients with kidney disease.

Faculty, Staff, and Student Highlights

Eight junior faculty investigators from the Medical School have been accepted into career development programs from the Clinical and Translational Science Institute. As CTSI scholars, the following investigators will receive mentorship, training, and funds to help advance their research careers and compete for federal grants: Melena Bellin, MD, Pediatrics; Maneesh Bhargava, MD, Medicine; Kathryn Cullen, MD, Psychiatry; Paul Drawz, MD, Medicine; Xiufeng Li, PhD, Radiology; Ann Parr, MD, PhD, Neurosurgery; Rebecca Shlafer, PhD, Pediatrics; Guisheng Song, PhD, Medicine.

While every nominee is well-qualified to receive this award, as a chapter we are unfortunately limited to selecting 2 residents and 1 fellow each year. In the January 2014 edition of Minnesota Monthly magazine, University of Minnesota Physician nephrologists Dr. Hassan Ibrahim, Dr. Connie Manske, and Dr. Marc Weber were named “Best Doctors for Women”.

Drs. Ibrahim, Manske and Weber were of the 509 physicians nominated by their peers and recognized for their professional expertise and attention to the specific needs of female patients.

Dr. Mark Rosenberg has been elected as Councilor for the American Society of Nephrology. 
Dr. Rosenberg started his term in November 2013 and will serve through November 2020. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Rosenberg on this prestigious accomplishment.
