Employment Opportunities


The Department of Medicine Applied Clinical Research Program welcomes applications for four faculty positions for physician-scientists with a commitment to an academic career path in patient, provider or health systems-oriented clinical research. Target areas for research development include clinical epidemiology, outcomes, dissemination, implementation and health services research.

Requirements/Qualifications
Candidates should be either MDs with fellowship training and/or Master's degree or higher in clinical research, epidemiology, health services research or a related area. Candidates can be trained as generalists or subspecialists. Candidates should have a demonstrated record in conducting clinical research. Applicants should be interested in working in an interdisciplinary environment.   

Duties/Responsibilities
The Department of Medicine invites applications for positions at Assistant Professor (tenure-track) and Associate Professor (tenure-track or tenured) levels, depending on candidate's experience and background. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing an independent program of scholarly research. The position offers a flexible start date, competitive salary and benefits, and excellent resources for career development. This position will have the expectation of at least 75% of time protected for research. Opportunities for university service, teaching, mentoring of graduate students and junior faculty and patient care are available.

Program/Unit Description
The new faculty will join a multidisciplinary team of extramurally funded, nationally recognized researchers within the Departments of Medicine, the School of Public Health, the Academic Health Center Office of Clinical Research, the Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Program on Health Disparities Research. The University of Minnesota Academic Health Center is comprised of six health science schools and is affiliated with several hospitals including the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview, Hennepin County Medical Center and the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The University of Minnesota, a full-service, tertiary care center and medical training facility, provides a stimulating academic environment.
